Rain, Rain, go AWAY!

Rain, Rain, go AWAY!

With all this rain, we’ve had to find our own sunshine! This week we have been hard at work continuing to train for our DAILY 5. We have read a lot of great stories this week and have made connections with ourselves, other text and the world.  We have talked about ordinal numbers and even and odd numbers. We found a fun way to figure out if a number is even or odd by drawing, make sure to ask your child about this! We finished up our communities and citizenship unit and are looking forward to our weather unit that we will start next week.

Who’s that Baby?!

Who’s that Baby?!

Over the past two weeks, our precious baby pics have been hanging and the big game of “Who’s that Baby?!” has been going on. Students were given the opportunity to guess who their classmates were based on the baby picture. It has been  a great way to build our sense of classroom community along with getting to know each other. On Friday, we revealed the babies and had a few winners to the game. Riley was able to guess all 22 correctly, Ella, Chase and Neha weren’t far behind with correctly identifying 20! We had a lot of fun!

Fall Into Reading!

Fall Into Reading!

Readers, readers all around us!Over these past few weeks of 2nd grade, we have been building stamina and learning our Daily 5 stations and expectations. We now have practiced “read to self ” and introduced  “read to someone” this week. Enjoy the photos of us in action as we practice “read to someone”.rs1            rs2      rs3  rs4   rs6 rs7  rs8 rs9  rs5
