On Friday, we were able to continue the snow day fun and bring the “snow” inside to build and create our very own snowmen. Thanks to our parents, Mrs. Fox, Mrs. Gibellato and Mrs. Papas for helping us with the fun!
I hope everyone had a fun and safe time in the snow! I can’t wait to hear about all of your adventures and snow happenings when you return! Please remember:
Tomorrow: Two-Hour Delay– Students begin arriving at 9:20 a.m. (be safe and careful in the a.m.!)
Friday 1/29: Full Day of School, this is a change. We will no longer have a half day.
Monday 2/1: Full Day of School, this is also a change. This previously scheduled student holiday will now be a full day of school for students!
We had a fun and busy week in Rm.12! We spent our time exploring the rain forest and desert while becoming experts at double digit addition and rounding sums. We read several stories like Too Tall Houses , Julius Baby of the World , and A Sick Day for Amos McGee and learned how to summarize by finding the beginning, middle and end of the story. We started our winter writing prompt, brainstorming and organizing ideas and are excited to see the final products (pictures to come!) With hard work and positive attitudes, we were able to reward ourselves today with “free choice Friday” and we had a great time!
I hope everyone enjoys the 3 day weekend and I will see your bright smiley faces Tuesday morning!!
The St. Jude’s Math-A-Thon is kicking off today and we are excited to help and support such a wonderful cause! We were reminded that the “H” in HERO is for Helping Others and we are ready to put our math brains together to help the children at St. Jude’s Hospital. A pink information sheet along with a work book and sponsor money envelope will be coming home today. It is important to remember that no cash should be collected, only checks! We will have two-spirit days to promote this great event!
Friday Jan.15th- Let’s Cheer for St. Jude spirit day. Students are invited to wear their favorite team shirts, sweatshirts or jerseys to cheer us on!
Friday Jan. 22nd- Shine On For St.Jude spirit day. Let’s wear our favorite sunglasses and St. Jude shirts (if you have one from the past) to show support.
We are learning to round the number first and then add.
Check out this school tube video for a rounding rap!
