On Tuesday we got ourselves excited for Thanksgiving with a lot of fun events! We first started the day by reading T”was the Night before Thanksgiving followed by the Shady Grove Thanksgiving Parade, which is always a treat! Afterwards, we spent our morning snuggled up reading with our classmates for our 2nd grade “Turkey Read-In”. Finally the icing on the cake was our monthly craft. We feel so thankful to have such supportive parents to join us and organize fun, enriching crafts! We made “Thankful Turkeys” and even got to color some fun holiday themed masks. Enjoy time with family and friends 🙂
There are a lot of thankful turkeys here in 2nd grade! We have been working on putting our writing skills to good use as we brainstormed all the things we feel grateful for. The students picked their top three and wrote a reason for each thing they were thankful for. There were so many wonderful thoughts and things to be thankful for. Check out the picture below to see just a few examples. I know I feel very thankful for 23 wonderful, kind, fun and bright students in my class!
On Friday, we enjoyed Career day with many special guest and speakers. It was a great learning experience and we learned about a variety of jobs. A few careers we learned about were a veterinary, radiologist, fire fighter and CIA personnel . We even got to take a tour of a snow plow that plows our roads on those snowy days! We thank our guidance counselors, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Askins for planning such a well organized and wonderful day for us!
Don’t forget Flat Stanleys are due back to Shady Grove this Friday November 6th!
So far he has been to Italy, Florida and Texas! Here’s a sneak peak at a few of his adventures!
