Smile! Tomorrow is picture day (Tuesday Oct.27th)! Don’t forget to look your best tomorrow morning! We will be taking individual and a class pictures.
Curious how to carve your pumpkin this year? Have no fear, 2nd grade is here! (to explain!) After focusing on sequencing this week, the students sequenced the order of events on how to carve the perfect pumpkin. They used words like first, next, then and last. Take a look at these examples. We have a room full of creative pumpkins!
Last week we reviewed our basic addition facts. After reading the story The Sneetches, we created our own machines, much like the story. The students used their creativity to produce a machine incorporating an adding rule. The students had numbers that went in, a rule and the numbers that came out. In this picture below you will see how creative some of us are! Lila made hers into a water drop, incorporating the water cycle into math:) Parents, be on the look out in your child’s folder this week and have them explain their machine to you!
We look forward to seeing all those who registered for this year’s Fun Run on
Thursday, October 15th.
Registration begins at 2:45 pm but you only need to come about 20 minutes before your child(ren)’s scheduled warm-up time.
Please keep in mind that ASE will be in session until 3:40 so it may be crowded in the parking lot. It is best to park on the side of the school closest to the bus loop, where registration will be and races start.
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST GO HOME directly after school and return to the race with an adult. Children who participate in ASE are welcome to leave early if this is most convenient.
We hope you are able to make the great event! Remember no Thursday homework 🙂
Today is Wacky Friday and everyone in rm.12 is super excited! Thank you to all who donated and sent in money to support the animals at Maymont. On Wednesday alone, the school raised $440! Check out some of us in our wacky attire.
We are starting the day in a bright way, it’s neon day! Today was the kick start to our SCA Spirit week. Thank you to all who sent in $1.00 to support the SCA’s service project for Maymont’s Adopt an Animal Program. There are two more chances to participate:
Thursday- Super Hero Day
Friday- Wacky (free) Day
Rain, rain go away! We have embraced all this rainy weather by starting our Water Cycle Unit. This week we have talked about words like evaporation, condensation and precipitation. We put together a Movie this morning called “Follow the Rain Drop”. We worked with a partner (s) to put pictures in the correct order and then added our own touches with creating a story of the raindrop to the pictures. We will begin learning and practicing a reader’s theater that we will be presenting in the upcoming weeks. We also have learned a fun song to help us remember the water cycle process. Ask your child to sing it for you at home!
