This week we welcomed autumn by reading the story, Leaf Man and imagining what life would be like as a leaf! We had a lot of fun brainstorming and imagining ourselves as fall leaves. We created and wrote a story about our life as a leaf! These were so fun to read and now we have them “falling” in our room. Take a look at a few examples of our creativity!
Today the first homework packet came home. Please make sure to check your child’s green folder. These packets will be due on Friday! There is no HW on Wednesday due to the Student Holiday! Also, you will find a blue study guide to use for the communities quiz this week and test next week. This week we are working on the definitions on the front and past/present.
This week we started Star Student! Kashvi is our first Star Student and we loved learning more about her this morning as she presented her poster. Afterwards, we asked questions about things we were curious about. We can’t wait to learn more about her throughout the week! Don’t forget to find your star student week. There is a schedule under classroom information for you to check out! I wonder what book Kashvi will share will us this week?!
Check out pictures of our Star Student sharing:
This week our reading skill is visualization. Today we read the story Night in the Country several times. First, without looking at the pictures. This kids were able to close their eyes and create a picture or “mind movie” in their heads as they listened. When we read it a second time they were able to draw their thoughts and pictures in their “thought bubbles” Afterwards we shared our pictures and checked out the pictures in the book. We will continue to focus on this skill all week! This is a fun one and helps us to be better readers!
Thank you for helping your child complete and turn in their “Math About Me” homework. We will be using the information to create an in class project.
This week there will be no assigned homework. Please make sure your child is spending at least 20 minutes reading each night. This can either be done together or independently. Homework packets will start next Monday. You will learn more about this at Back to School Night Thursday September 17th at 6:30 p.m. !
Looking forward to seeing everyone then! 🙂
I am so excited to have you in my class this year and know it is going to be a super year!
Don’t forget Thursday September 3rd is Open House! I will see you then:)
