Reminders: Canned Food Drive– We are having our Annual Turkey Court Canned Food Collection November 9-20. Students are encouraged to bring in nonperishable food items to donate to the Henrico Christmas Mother. Students will be allowed to place a food item in any teacher’s box. Each food item counts as 1 vote for that teacher toward being honored as this year’s Turkey King or Queen. Help us collect food for others and give back this holiday season.
Veteran’s Day Assembly: On Friday, November 10 @ 9:00 AM, we will have a Veteran’s Day assembly to honor all of our military veterans. Our third graders will perform and should where jeans and a solid colored red, white, or blue shirt. All veterans in our community are welcome to attend as we honor you. We hope to see you there!
CBI to Publix: Today, we had a CBI to Publix grovery store on John Rolfe Parkway. We had a fantastic time and the manager and employees were awesome. First, they gave us a tour of the store. We got to visit the deli counter where we sampled a chicken tender (rated 2 in the nation). Then, we visited the bakery where we all became a member of the Cookie Club. We got to sample a cookie and received a Cookie Club card to use on our future visits. Next we toured the produce section and learned about the different colors and the importance of fruits and vegetables in our diet. We spoke with the butcher at the meat and seafood counters. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any lobsters for us to see, but we got the see a whole fish that was caught and brought to the store. We continued to tour the other sections of the store and met all the friendly employees. All the workers were extremely welcoming and kind. The store manager also provided a special shopping bag to each student with goodies and recipes to share with their families. We wrapped up our visit by shopping for ingredients to make our English Muffin Pizza recipe that we have been working on this week. We will make our pizzas on Friday and write a recipe review. The students did a great job and it was a great trip!
