Week of Jan. 7-11

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone enjoyed some time with their families and had a chance to rest up over winter break!  We also had a fun time traveling the world and learning about holiday celebrations all over the globe.  Students will be bringing home their suitcase filled with brochures, souvenirs, and booklets about the various countries.  Check out all that we collected!  Now it is back to work.  Over the next few months this will be a very busy time as we prepare for assessments, end of the second marking period and IEP season.  You can help by making sure your student is well rested and eats a good breakfast each morning to help them be alert and ready to learn.

Upcoming Events:

Jan. 10: 4th grade Young Scientists.

Jan. 11: 5th grade trip to Short Pump Middle School

Jan. 18: Muffins with Mom 7:30-8:30

Jan. 21: MLK Day.  No School.

Jan. 28: End of Nine Weeks. No School

Announcements:

  • Water bottles are highly encouraged.  Our classroom is a long way from a water fountain and this will help us maximize instructional time.
  • As the weather begins to get colder, please remember that students do still go outside if it is nice.  Please make sure your student is dressed appropriately and brings a jacket/coat.

Week of December 17-19

This week we have had a great time traveling the world learning about different holidays and how they are celebrated in different countries.  So far we have visited Israel, Mexico, India, Italy, and America.  Unfortunately, the snow stalled our travels so we will finish our last 2 countries when we return after break.  On our travels, we have gathered many brochures, souveniors and keepsakes.  Your students cannot wait to share them with you.

We also enjoyed our visit to Short Pump Town Center where we explored and participated in some fun traditions celebrated here in America.  I hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed our time.  (Keep scrolling below)

I also wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holiday and Happy New Year!  I hope you are blessed with great times with family and friends over our winter break.  And I hope you find some time to rest and relax.
