Online fun for readers

Below are a few links to websites—about reading and readers—that  we love!  If you have a favorite “reader” website or blog, let us know, and maybe we’ll add it to this page!

Anita Silvey’s Children’s Book-a-Day Almanac—Ms. Silvey is a former children’s book editor…and she recommends the greatest books!  Some of them are brand new; some are old favorites.

Association of Library Services for Children’s Great Websites for Kids—All of the categories have terrific web sites, but the ones under “Literature and Languages” are specifically about books and authors/illustrators.

BiblioNasium and Bookopolis—These are both kid friendly reading networks (think safe social media sites, such as Goodreads) for students AND teachers.

Book Trailers for Readers—This site posts wonderful student made book trailers ( and also includes tips on how to design your own trailer).

From the Mixed-up Files—This is a “go to” site for middle grade fiction (you’ll need to check this one from home, but it has a fantastic “For Kids” page).

Guys Read—This website is a great place for readers…and it really isn’t just for boys!

SlimeKids—Made by a teacher and a parent, this website offers an extensive collection of fun book trailers.
