Please join us on Thursday, 8/30 to meet me and explore your new classroom! Students are welcome to drop off all supplies while parents fill out beginning of the year forms. We welcome all new first graders from 4:30-6:00 in our classroom. See you there!
What an exciting week! We learned how to make repeating and growing patterns using different math manipulatives. We worked together and used our “Bubblegum Brains” to figure out new ways to make abc, abb, abcd and ab patterns.
We have spent the last two weeks learning about our community, how to be a good citizen and the difference between the past and the present. We got to see black and white pictures from the past and learned about school, clothes and transportation from a long time ago. After reading The Big Orange Splot, we created our own houses using our own ideas and showed the many ways that we are different and unique.
We loved learning about ways we can help one another and all of the people in our community who help us everyday.
Our superheros have been practicing subitizing and recognizing numbers. They have been working together with friends to problem solve and practice subitizing strategies!
What a great week in First Grade! We had so much fun in our class and learned so many new things. In our class, students learned how to be a good citizen and show respect to our classmates and teachers. We learned how to subitize by listening to a silly song! Can I just tell you, this class knows how to sing! They sang their abc’s and danced along to our syllables song each day with smiles and silly dancing. I can’t wait to see what happens next week!
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
Back to School Night is this Thursday, 9/14 at 6:30PM. Prior to coming to the classroom, you should attend the PTA meeting to learn more about ways you can volunteer and help our school. You will also learn about important events and stay up to date on things happening around our school. In our classroom, you will get to see where your child sits, what we will be learning and our classroom rules. In order to learn more about what your child will be learning and our classroom routines, we are asking that only adults attend Back to School Night. This will provide you with time to ask questions and be familiar with our daily structure. I can’t wait to see you all on Thursday!

Every year our students get to celebrate a day called Mix it Up Day. This is a day where we get to meet someone new and spend some time getting to know other Longan students that we might not see on a regular basis. We were so excited to be paired with the 4th graders in Mrs. Baker’s class. We walked around the track and played with our new friends on the playground. We tried to share things about ourselves and learn things about our new friends. We had so much fun!
