Monthly Archives: September 2017

Hello everyone! Here are the updates for the week

Language arts: making connections to stories and complete/incomplete sentences,

Math: even/odd numbers, skip counting, addition and subtraction facts

Social studies: geography unit (map skills, continents, oceans, US maps)

You will notice that social studies notebooks came home today.  Anytime students bring home notebooks, please encourage them to read through any new information and make sure to pack it for the next day.  Please also be sure to check agendas daily for homework, reminders, and behavior notes.

Thursday the 21st will be a half day, with an 11:35 dismissal time.  The cafeteria will serve lunch that day should your child want to buy.  Our lunch time is early, so you may want your child to just bring a snack and have lunch at home after dismissal.

Please see my earlier email about a room parent volunteer, we are still in need of one!

Two t-shirt order forms came home today-one is for second grade and the other is spirit wear for Colonial Trail.  We encourage everyone to purchase a second grade t-shirt to wear on special days, field trips, and field day.

Thanks for all you do and have a great week!

Hello everyone!

I am continually impressed with how well your kids are doing adjusting, working, and following directions!  It’s going to be a great year!  Here are the updates for the week:

In math, we’re working on calendar skills, ordinal numbers, skip counting, and basic addition and subtraction facts.

In language arts, we’re working on reading for pleasure and I’ll be assessing kids for their instructional reading level.

In social studies, we’re learning about citizenship, rules, and voting.

Our homework this year might be a little different than what the kids are used to.  Please see the attachment for directions and be sure to check agendas every day.  HOMEWORK_17-18

Thanks for all you do and have a great week!
