2.11-2.15

Hello everyone!

You will notice on today’s agenda page that students have written down their topic for Multicultural Night and are instructed to bring a picture of their topic by Friday.  A small 4×6 picture will be large enough.

A field trip form for our Richmond Symphony trip also went home today, as well as 2nd quarter report cards.

Content this week:

Math-finishing up probability.  The quiz I had planned on giving today was very difficult, so we went over it as a class and will do another quiz tomorrow.  After that and some Valentine’s Day math, we will start our time unit.

Science-finishing up matter with a test tomorrow.

Social studies-past and present (differences between transportation, communication, occupations long ago and today), and a few more famous Americans-Benjamin Franklin and Helen Keller.

Reading/Language arts- pronouns, contractions, summarizing story events.

Thanks for all you do and have a great week!

12.3-12.7

Mystery Reader-I don’t have a set Mystery Reader time or schedule.  If you’d like to come in and read to the class, please email me and we can set up a time for you to come in!

Graded papers-you may have noticed that students are instructed to write down due dates for papers that I will collect and grade.  This is to help them stay organized and not fall behind throughout the nine weeks.  Papers will be collected on the due date-if they are turned in unfinished points will be taken off.

From Mrs. Smith-

First, a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the parents who supported the art program at Colonial Trail by purchasing an item from the Square One Art Fundraiser.  The children’s art looked great on the high quality items and you helped to raise over a thousand dollars which will be used to purchase clay, printmaking materials, adaptive tools, glaze, etc. to be used by all the students K-5. Second, over 40 students had their art work selected and hung in the HCPS Central Office display the month of November.  The students brought home the announcement the first of last month.  The art show is now hanging in the school near the office and cafeteria.  Feel free to drop by and see the art exhibit during school hours the month of December.  Thanks again for all of your support of the art program at Colonial Trail!!

You will notice that subject notebooks will come home periodically-when they do, part of that night’s homework will be to look over any new notes.  Encourage your students to pack them back in their backpacks to be ready for the next day!
