There are two things that Mrs. Smith, our art teacher, wanted to share with all of the parents. First, a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the parents who supported the art program at Colonial Trail by purchasing an item from the Square One Art Fundraiser.  The children’s art looked great on the high quality items and you helped to raise over a thousand dollars which will be used to purchase clay, printmaking materials, adaptive tools, glaze, etc. to be used by all the students K-5. Second, over 40 students had their art work selected and hung in the HCPS Central Office display the month of November.  The students brought home the announcement the first of last month.  The art show is now hanging in the school near the office and cafeteria.  Feel free to drop by and see the art exhibit during school hours the month of December.  Thanks again for all of your support of the art program at Colonial Trail!!

Hi Everyone,

A few updates for the week:

-This week, we will be receiving our set of class laptops so that each student will have their own personal laptop to use at school. While this will be a huge transition, we are very excited to orient them to doing more things online and with the understanding they are working independently on the assigned task. The best part of this is that while students are working on their assignments, I am able to work in small groups with students for remediation, practice, or enrichment. Please encourage your child to be mindful of staying on task when working on the computer. It is very easy to want to navigate to an unassigned website or location. This is also preparing them for middle school when they will have most of their assignments, if not all, on their laptop that will come home with them.

-Tests/Quizzes this week:

Wednesday: we will test on Jamestown (VS 3).

Friday: we will have a quiz on multiplication. This will include 2 digit and 3 digit by 2 digit numbers (ex: 43 x 12 and 540 x 12).

-Winter Break begins Thursday, Dec. 20th. If you know your student will not be here any time before break, please let me know so I can adjust curriculum planning.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Have a great week! Kelly

Parents, report cards and Tuesday folders are coming home today. Please only return the signed envelope and keep the report card. In the Tuesday folder, only the slip on the top of the papers needs to come back showing that you have seen your child’s graded papers.

There is a Scholastic book order form coming as well. If you wish to order books for a gift, please let me know and I won’t send them home with your child when they arrive.

I wish each of your families and safe and peaceful Thanksgiving break. I am thankful for being able to spend my days with your children and for your support in their education.

***Jamestown chaperones, thank you so much for your help yesterday. Please email me any pictures that you may have so I can add them to the blog.
