Big Thanks to Dr. Iurno of West End Orthodontics who graciously donated the cost of the photo booth for our Fifth Grade end of year celebration, which helped keep down the cost for the parents. Even our community loves our Coyotes!

Everyone loves getting a YEARBOOK but this will not happen next year without someone to chair this endeavor. The PTA and the Kaechele students need YOU! There are also still some other vacant chair positions available. PLEASE consider giving your time so these can continue to exist at KES! Go to the General Volunteers tab on your nList to see a list of what you can volunteer for and sign up today!

School Kits: It’s time to order your school supply kit for next year! Go to www.shopttkits.com and enter school code 47002! Select your student’s grade for NEXT year and voila! The school supplies will magically appear at Open House! But hurry- sale ends on June 18!! Payments will be taken online only so please do not send payment to school. A small portion of each sale goes to support KES PTA! Teachers have designed each kit for their specific grade. It’s a great way to support KES and get your school supply shopping done! Questions? Contact Jenn at jennlbradshaw@hotmail.com.

Nominating Committee: Next year’s PTA is still in need of a VP of Volunteers. Many of the programs require recruiting helpers so we need a person to get this job done!  If you have good organizational skills and like to work with nLists, please contact us at kaechelepta@gmail.com for more information on how you could make a difference!

Clothing to Cash Recycling Program: Keep cleaning out your closets folks! This program goes on even during the summer! Visit this link: http://kespta.com/fundraising/clothing-for-cash for more information on what to do with all your unwanted stuff or contact Heather England at Hde1127@verizon.net

Final Wax Museum Reminder

Dear Parents,

We did our final practices today in preparation for the Wax Museum!  All students are right on target with their times! As you practice at home please remind your student to look up from their scripts, speak slowly and clearly, keep going if mistakes are made, and HAVE FUN!  Remember, students should come to school in their costume.  They can bring a change of clothes for after the museum.  We’re looking forward to this spectacular day, and we’ll see you tomorrow 9-10!  Thanks for supporting our students.  I’m so proud of them!

Grades and Preparing For the Wax Museum

Dear Parents,

We are approaching the final stretch and have a few more graded assignments that must be completed or turned in by Tuesday.  I will enter into Power School, a grade for the Poetry Packet on Monday.  If your student did not return it on Friday, I will accept it on Monday upon their arrival.  Incomplete packets will docked one full letter grade.

As a reminder, our Science Test is on Tuesday. If your student has an A average in Science, the Soil Test is optional.  Please discuss with them. They can let me know whether or not they will take the test on Tuesday, or feel free to send an e-mail or write a note. Students with an A in Science that choose not to take the test, will read while other students complete the test.

Construction of speeches for the Wax Museum began this week.  Each speech should be between 45 seconds to one minute. Next week I will work with individual students to give them feedback on their speech.  They will also receive feedback from their peers.

All students should begin their speech with a quote, fun fact, or question about their Wax Museum figure.  We discussed this during the week and students saw examples of last year’s third graders. They should be practicing every night at home, and we will work together here at school.

They should memorize their speech to the best of their ability, but it is acceptable to tape or glue the speech to a prop.  For example, someone portraying Susan B. Anthony, might hold a sign that says, “Give Women the Right to Vote!”  The speech may be glued on the back.  We will watch a few more examples next week. Students are very excited, and I know they will do well!

Wax Museum Speeches

Dear Parents,

Today we had a full day of finishing research and working on our speeches!  I was able to have one-on-one conferences with most students, but all students saw examples of speeches from last year’s classes, a full example of research and a speech on George Washington, and received feedback on some area of their presentation.  I will finish my one-on-one conferencing on Monday, and we will make our buttons early next week.  Thanks for helping your student practice. I know they will do well!  Have a wonderful weekend!
