Permission forms due…
-We are going to the YMCA on December 6th (this is a change). A new permission form came home this past week. Please sign and return this form as soon as possible!
-Our class will take a field trip to Short Pump Middle School on January 11th. Please return this signed permission form too!

CONGRATS to Ankith! He won our class spelling bee. Our runner up was Nisanth. The two boys were back and forth for several rounds. The whole class was impressed!

Essay Contest! This is a 300-word essay contest on “What Makes You Proud of America” for students in grades 5-8. I know it is a quick turnaround, as the deadline of December 15th. This is an optional assignment.

What are we learning about this week?
Language arts: fact and opinion

Math 5 for Dohrman: finish comparing/ordering fractions/decimals AND start adding/subtracting fractions

Reminders…
-Please send in non-perishable canned/boxed food items for our annual Henrico Christmas Mother collection. The last day to bring items is Monday, November 26th.
-Our class will be visiting the YMCA with Coach LeClair for an aquatics lesson on Friday, December 14th. Please return your child’s signed permission form and money as soon as possible. Thank you!

October 15th: Scientific Investigations Test; Safety Patrol Inductions (pizza lunch for safeties)
October 17th and 19th: 5th grade students may walk/run on the track from 7:50 – 8:10 am (This is for Success Week. Coach LeClair is getting the students more active.)
*Picture Day and Donuts with Dads will be rescheduled – I’ll keep you posted!

1) Please return your signed permission form for our trip to the Math & Science Innovation Center as soon as possible (trip is Oct. 31st).
2) It is your student’s responsibility to stay organized, writing down their homework in their agendas and bringing home the necessary materials daily. This will help them be better prepared for middle school next year!
