2.  Spring Testing. SOL Testing Dates are listed below.  Please mark your calendars so that your student will be prepared to take a test with the class on the scheduled date.  Of course, there is an opportunity for make-ups upon student return, but marking your calendars will create the expected routine necessary in order for students to show their best work.

2. Absence, Early Dismissal and Late Arrival Reminders

We really appreciate it when parents email the teachers to let them know about a student absence or early dismissal or late arrival however please don’t forget to call the office. Parents are expected to contact the office regarding all absences, early dismissals and late arrivals. It is not the teacher’s responsibility to forward parent emails to the office.

Attention rising 6th graders! If you are attending Short Pump Middle School and are interested in trying out for Cheerleading please listen closely to the following announcement regarding physical forms. When you go to schedule your physical please try and do so any time during the month of May. Getting a physical form completed in May will ensure you are eligible not only for cheerleading tryouts at the end of May, but you will be eligible to try out for any of other sport during the 2018-19 school year. 2. Nauticus. Fifth grade will be heading to Nauticus in Norfolk, VA  this Friday, April 13th.  Please have your child to Kaechele by 7am in the gym.  Don’t forget to bring a packed lunch, snacks and a drink.  Please have your child wear a Kaechele shirt if possible. Make arrangements to pick up your child at Kaechele at 4pm. Electronics are allowed on this bus trip.

  • Social Studies: VCU Market Day
  • English: Writing reader’s responses

2. VCU Market Day.  We will be attending VCU Market Day on March 27th. There is no cost to attend. We will be leaving around 9:10am and returning by 1:15pm. Students should wear KES shirts, unless they have a planned “uniform” for their team.  All students will need to pack a lunch and snack.

3. Nauticus. Fifth grade will be heading to Nauticus in Norfolk, VA on April 13th.  We will be taking a charter bus.  The cost is $41 per student. If you are willing to chaperone (the cost is also $41 for chaperones), please indicate that on the permission slip.  Forms and money are due before Spring Break.  We will be exploring the museum, the Battleship Wisconsin, and participating in a ROV lab where we will make and test underwater sea vehicles. A copy of the permission slip and letter can be found here. Forms and Money are due March 30th.
