What a week! We are DONE with benchmarks!!!! PHEW! Now we can have some fun watching the RAMS tomorrow night!

Third nine weeks benchmarks are coming up this week and next week. Our schedule is as follows:

Thursday, March 24- Reading part 1

Friday, March 25- Reading part 2

Tuesday, March 29- Social Studies

Wednesday, March 30- Math

Thursday, March 31- Science

We had a lot of fun celebrating being in school for 100 days! Today we had a special guest from the Math and Science Innovation Center come to our classroom to give us a fun measurement lesson. The students paired up and were given a beanie baby and some legos. Then they had to measure the animal and create a chair which would fit the animal perfectly. What fun!

Welcome back to school! It’s hard to believe the first semester is coming to an end. Mid-year testing is coming up. Please review your child’s interactive notebook for the science and social studies tests.

Our schedule will be as follows:

Jan. 19th (Wed.)- Social Studies

Jan. 20th (Thurs.)- Math

Jan. 24th (Mon.)- Reading

Jan. 25th (Tues.)- Science

We will be testing each morning. Please make sure that your child is well rested and has had a healthy breakfast. Thanks so much!!

I know the kids have been enjoying the extra long vacation. I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and a happy 2011!!!! Merry Christmas!!

We voted as to whether or not we will have school the rest of the week. Here are the results:

48% say we will be off tomorrow              52% say we will be here tomorrow

67% say we will be off Friday                     33% say we will be here on Friday

WHAT DO YOU THINK??????

Can you believe it??? The air smells of snow and jingle bells! We had a great week last week. Wait until you see our Powhatan Indian scenes coming home. This week we will be learning about the Lakota Indians of the Great Plains.

We will find out at Tuesday’s spirit rally how much money we raised for the Christmas Mother. Thank you to all who contributed. A BIG thanks to those parents who came and read last week so that I could enjoy and extra long lunch. Have a wonderful week!

Can you believe December is in full swing already? We’re having fun learning about American Indians. This week we will finish up the Powhatans and begin learning about the Pueblo of the Southwest. We’ve been making some great longhouses on the computer. Our VCU intern’s last day is Thursday. Thank you for the contributions to her gift card. Have a great week!
