Glance at a Golden Week 10.15-10.19

Fall is FINALLY here!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend enjoying this crisp, cooler weather!

A LOOK INTO ROOM 8:

Reading- We continued our unit on nonfiction as we moved into learning how to summarize nonfiction text. Similar to fiction summarizing, nonfiction summarizing includes a main idea and supporting details. We will continue exploring this subject over the next two weeks, as it is a very important skill for the students to learn!

Writing- The students began writing a rough draft for the Papa John’s essay contest. They are answering the prompt: “How will you better your community by attending a college, university, or training program?” Click hereto check out the awesome awards that they could receive if they win the contest!

Social Studies- The students explored the government of Henrico County. We identified and described the districts in the county and the roles of government officials. There is only one more unit in Henrico Studies which we will explore next week!
