Empathy-Understanding how someone else is feeling

Empathy-Understanding how someone else is feeling

“Putting yourself in someone else’s shoes” has been our theme for November and December.  We have been learning about empathy, what it is, how to show it and we learned 4 ways to know how someone else is feeling:

  1. look at their face
  2. look at their body language
  3. listen to their voice
  4. Ask them, “How are you feeling?” or “Are you okay?”

Students had trivia questions on the morning announcements and also had the opportunity to color a shoe and write ways to show empathy to go on my bulletin board in the main hallway for “putting yourself in someone else’s shoes”.
