This week the students have been learning about gymnastics and 5th graders have been preparing for their Aquatics Safety trip to the YMCA next week. They have been learning about all the ways to stay safe around water and how to help someone in need. We are getting very excited about the trip to the pool!
Congratulations and thank you for everyone that came out and represented our school for the Short Pump Mile this past Sunday. I saw lots of Kaechele coyotes running and having a great time. I am proud to announce that we won 3rd place for having the 3rd most participants in the race this year. Along with our 3rd place win we also received a check for $400. This money will be used for new PE and recess equipment. If you ran in the race please wear your Short Pump Mile shirt on Monday, October 9th.
Mr. Kelley has started playing a few cooperative games with the students this week. The first thing we are working on is mission possible. The students are really enjoying the challenge of working together to get from one side of the gym to the other without touching the ground.
Don’t forget to sign up for the Short Pump Mile!
The Short Pump Mile is almost here again. The race will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1st. We always have a great time running this race each year. The more students we have from our school signed up, the better our chances of winning money for our schools PE department. Students who place in their age division will also get awards. I hope to see you all out there. Make sure that if you sign up you list Kaechele as your school.
Welcome back to Kaechele! I am excited to start a brand new year with you all. This year is going to awesome and we are going to have a ton of fun in class. We are blessed to have a student teacher with us this year from VCU. Mr. Kelley will be at Kaechele until the middle of October and he will be helping to teach some class while he is here. We have seen almost all the classes and gone over our class rules and procedures. We are about to start our unit on the 5 components of fitness and intensity this week. Make sure that everyone is wearing good athletic shoes so everyone can participate in the fun activities we have plannned.
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! This week is read across america week and what better way to get focused for reading than a little exercise. We will be playing these short 2 minute Dr. Seuss Tabata’s each morning after announcements. Sometimes students need a break in the middle of the day too so please use these Tabata’s anytime you need to get the students moving!
Today is the official kickoff of “Tone It Up Thursdays”. For the next 6 weeks we will be playing a workout video for you all to get moving in the morning before we start our day of learning. Some of your wonderful teachers have volunteered to participate in some of these workout video’s. Below is the video we premiered today!
Hey Coyotes! I have just posted a new dance on the blog. This dance is to the song “Off the Ground” by Bit Funk. Our 5th graders are using this dance for their motor skills test. I hope you all enjoy it and get lots of exercise through dance!
