Program Synopsis: The pharmacy technician program is offered exclusively at Highland Springs Technical Center. The 1 year program for juniors and seniors is a 3 credit course and allows students to take the Virginia State Board Exam. HCPS pays for the students to take their exam, which gives them a license to work in Virginia pharmacies.

Pharmacy Technician: The class teaches students basic pharmacology and how to assist pharmacists in all types of pharmacy settings. Students also learn communication skills, medical math calculations, pharmacy ethics and workplace readiness skills set by the state of Virginia.headshot_langford

 

Instructor: Sheila A. Langford CPHT, 20 plus years in the field and teaching for 10 years at HSTC.

Ms. Langford loves working with all  age groups of people and spending time with her family.

 

 

Desired Aptitudes: Strong math, science, and computer skills.  Preferred grade of ”C” or above.
