Seeking community volunteers to work with book clubs

Thanks to The Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce’s Henrico Business Council for its support of Glen Lea Elementary’s One School One Book event this past November. It was a great kick-off to the Adopt-A-School project.

Now we are moving to the next phase of literacy support for Glen Lea—seeking community volunteers to work with book clubs. How can you help? Circulate this opportunity to colleagues and friends interested in making the best investment of all—our community’s kids!image-children_clipart_reading_circle-315x254

Here are the details:

  • Read an assigned book with 3-4 students for 4-6 weeks.
  • Volunteers may specify preferences (3-5; boys or girls, etc.) and brief training will be provided.
  • Come to Glen Lea once a week during the students’ lunch to discuss the book with them. Your attention and enthusiasm for reading will make a real difference!
