Here’s what TEACHERS are SAYING about their HEF GRANTS:

We’ve used the HEF grant award to implement a youth-led farmer’s market. Grant funds were used to provide expansion materials, educational lessons, student intern training and labor for the garden to prepare for the food volume needed to implement the market in spring, summer, and fall 2014.  There has been much excitement already and we can’t thank HEF enough for allowing us to expand our existing program and truly benefit our community and our students in a unique way!  [Amanda Hall; Fairfield MS]

Math stations have been implemented K-5 as planned–all teachers/grade levels have informally reported back to us that student understanding has improved from previous years and it was easy to get everything started because all materials were provided. Thanks for the grant!  [Lauren Holcomb (CIS) and Ashley Williams (4th grade) Highland Springs ES]

I received my grant funds in a timely fashion from Finance and am in the process of ordering/processing the payout of the children’s engineering items for my grant.  (We are so excited!!! Thank you!) I’ve met with my ITRT and am developing a blog that will be HEF specific for this project, where I can celebrate HEF, my students, and the positive impact this grant is going to have on all of us. Students are aware the items are coming, and absolutely cannot wait to begin training mid May! Not a single roadblock!  [Audra Yerian; Kindergarten; Sandston ES]
