Reynolds Community College New Student Orientation

Welcome to Reynolds! Register now for new student orientation. Students who attend orientation are more likely to have a successful college experience. Be prepared for your on-campus new Student Orientation, Advising, and
Registration (SOAR) session by learning more at reynolds.edu/orientation.

Before SOAR:
• Submit an application for admission at
reynolds.edu
• Take the placement tests at one of the campus Testing Centers. If you do not take the placement tests one week prior to your SOAR session, your advisor cannot properly advise you for fall classes. Exemptions to placement tests are listed in the online college catalog.
• Set up your username and password in MyREYNOLDS. Be sure to set up your online security questions.
• Have you applied for financial aid? Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov
• Bring your username, password and EMPL ID# (7-digit number) with you to SOAR.
• Submit your official high school transcripts to Reynolds before SOAR.
• Go to the reynolds.edu/orientation and watch the online Orientation. At the end of online Orientation, you can register for a SOAR date.
At SOAR:
• Check-in at the Massey Library Technology Center lobby at the Parham Road Campus, Downtown Campus lobby, or Building C20 at the Goochland Campus.
• Confirm your username and password with a Student Ambassador.
• Attend a Welcome Program and learn about Reynolds student policies.
• Report to an assigned classroom for advising in a group setting.
• Learn how to navigate the Student Information System (SIS).
• Register for fall classes with the suggested class list provided to you by an advisor.
• Leave with a class schedule.
• Up to two guests may accompany you to SOAR.

Jump Start events begin the week before classes start. Students can get assistance with books, parking decals, Reynolds ID, and can take a campus tour.

Sign up beginning May 2. Sessions fill quickly!  reynolds.edu/orientation | soar@reynolds.edu
