  This year, two book clubs will be available at Glen Allen High school for students.  The Open Book Society will continue for its fourth year and will continue its mission to open minds of students to new and different books that focus on critical reading and critical discussions.

Here are the meeting dates and selections for seminar for the 2013-14 Open Book Society:

MP1 Wednesday, October 30, 2013 – The Psycopath Test by Jon Ronson

MP2 Wednesday, January 15, 2014 – The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot

MP3 Wednesday, March 19, 2014 – The Signal and the Noise by Nate Silver

MP4 Wednesday, May 28, 2014– Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

All meetings are held in the GAHS library at 4:15pm.

Open Book Society Blog

The second book club is called The Jaguar Page Turners which will be open to students and faculty.  The purpose of this book group is to promote pleasurable reading as a lifetime habit.

Our first book is Looking For Alaska by John Green.   We will meet on Thursday, November 21 in the library at 4:15.  Snacks provided.  See blogs.henrico.k12.va.us/gahsbookclub for more information.
