Next year, two book clubs will be available at Glen Allen High school for students.  The Open Book Society will continue for its third year and will continue its mission to open minds of students to new and different books that focus on critical reading and critical discussions.

Here are the meeting dates and selections for seminar for the 2012-13 Open Book Society:

MP1 Wednesday, October 24, 2012 – How Soccer Explains the World by Franklin Foer

MP2 Wednesday, January 16, 2013 –In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan

MP3 Wednesday, March 20, 2013 – A Problem from Hell by Samantha Power

MP4 Wednesday, May 22, 2013– American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Open Book Society Blog

 The second book club is called The Jaguar Page Turners which will be open to students and faculty.  The purpose of this book group is to promote pleasurable reading as a lifetime habit.   The Jaguar Page Turners will meet the first Wednesday of the month on October 3, November 7, December 5, January 9, February 6, March 6,  April 10, and May 8,  during JSTEP in the library.  Come join us on October 3 as we begin our discussion of our first book Nevermore by James Patterson.  If you have any questions, feel free to email me at apbranyon@henrico.k12.va.us.    I look forward to reading with all of you during the coming school year.
