Technology and Innovations of the 1960’s- Short and Whitaker

The 1960’s were a time of many technological inventions and innovations. Many things happened for America from 1960 to 1969. From the first televised Presidential debate to when Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin became the first men to walk on the Moon while crew mate Michael Collins orbits around the Moon alone. Some other examples of inventions and innovations are: Valium in 1961, the audio cassette and Space war, the first computer game, were invented in 1962, in 1963, the video disk was invented, in 1964, acrylic paint was invented, and AstroTurf invented, the compact disk invented by James Russell, Kevlar invented by Stephanie Louise Kwolek were all invented in 1965, in 1966,Electronic Fuel injection for cars were invented, the first handheld calculator was invented in 1967, and in 1968 the computer mouse was invented by Douglas Engelbart. Finally, in 1969, the Arpanet, which was the first internet, was invented, the artificial heart invented, the ATM was invented, the bar-code scanner was invented, and we sent men to the moon.

Technology and innovation in the 1960’s has made for a much easier, less stressful life. Technology helps us to keep in touch with people who are away from us. We use the telephones and computers to talk to them and even see them. No longer do people use the pen and paper to complete their work. The use of technology has made our life much more comfortable. We cannot think of a life that doesn’t have technology. We get to keep a lot of information in a small device and use it when we like. Cars have also become better with the use of technology. Thus technology is undeniably an important part of our life. If we had not made the amazing technological achievements that we did in 1960, the world around us would be a much different place.

With the technology and innovations of the 1960’s, it has made life much easier now, in the 21st century. If these technologies would have not been introduced then it would have led to much harder times. Modern technology has greatly improved people’s lives through different fields such as medicine, work, education, industry, as well as warfare. With modern technology, we are living in an era of industrialization and modernization. This has shown man the labor-saving machines which can work better and more efficiently than any one person. Machines are now doing the job of man and the labor force has been considerably reduced since a machine can do the job of several people at a time. In the 1960’s there were no machines to do the job for you like there is now. It is amazing how far we have come, in the technology era, since the 1960’s. Technology is still developing in the world around us today. In a several years, we will look back on the technology and innovation made now as we did in the 1960’s.
