Thank you to ALL of our Veterans that serve our country!

Last week was a busy one with a visit from Henrico County firefighters to teach us about fire safety, along with animal project research and habitat construction. We owe a HUGE thank you to our 4th grade reading buddies that provided some assistance as well. Please click on the link to check out some photos below:

Animal projects

I greatly enjoyed meeting with for Parent/Teacher conferences last week. As I mentioned to you our new Homework routine will begin tomorrow. All students will be bringing home a Homework notebook along with a Choice board that is to be completed and turned in on Friday. I will also be posting the Homework choice board weekly on the Homework tab on this blog.

What we will be learning this week:

Language Arts–  nouns (person, place, animal, thing, idea); Five finger story re-tell; instructional reading groups

Math– number sense to 110 using place value (understanding of tens/ones place and it’s value)

Social Studies– beginning a unit on the Jamestown settlement and the Powhatan tribe. Famous Virginians: Chief Powhatan, Pocahontas, and Christopher Newport

Vocabulary to know: settlement, settler, contributions, explorer

Dates to know:

Monday, November 12th- Veteran’s Day assembly at 9:00AM, wear red, white, and blue!

November 12th-26th Canned food collection for Henrico Christmas Mother

November 21-23rd- Thanksgiving Holiday
