Hello Parents!

Hello Parents!

Welcome to my blog! Last year, I primarily used this blog as a communication with students but parents are welcome as well! Leave a comment if you would like or email me about a question! I am here to help and am excited to get to know all of the new students and spend more time with the returning students that I’ve gotten to know over the past few years.

Here is my contact info: ebrettg@henrico.k12.va.us and 673-3745. Email works best as I try to spend my days with students and not sitting by a phone. If you prefer a phone call that works too.

Dear Friends,

I was so proud of you during our talk in the gym the other day. I am excited that we are going to be able to start fresh these last few weeks. I know you are all capable of making great choices, being a great friend and focusing on your school work. I can’t wait to come visit your class and hear all the stories from Mrs. Biller about what changes she has seen. I know the positive energy is only going to HELP you be successful on your SOL’s next week. GOOD LUCK!

Great News! Big Brother/Big Sister Program comes to Ridge!

Great News! Big Brother/Big Sister Program comes to Ridge!

Next year Ridge will have a site based Big Brother/Big Sister Program. This means that selected students will be paired with a “big brother” or “big sister” and will be mentored by that person all year. The mentor will come once a week for about an hour to meet with the student. I think this new program will be a great asset to our students at Ridge!

Dear Friends,

I am glad you are starting to see the relationship between working hard in school and your future. I know you all have wonderful goals in your life to look forward to and being successful now is one way to achieve those goals. We talked a lot about TV and how it is not helpful to us in school. Please list some of the reasons why. You can even do some research to find out why TV can “hurt” your academic performance.
