We had a very busy week in the library! This week we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month! Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 – October 15. To help celebrate, we have put up a book display showcasing books on Hispanic countries, culture and festivals. We also have books written by hispanic authors and illustrated by hispanic artists. Our 4th and 5th graders used the QR Scanner app on the iPads to scan different QR codes in the library. These led students to different websites and databases such as Pebble Go, DK Find out and Encycopedia Brittanica to learn about Hispanic Culture. We learned about Cinco de Mayo, The Day of the Dead, Frida Khalo, Roberto Clemente and Rafael Lopez. 3rd grade enjoyed a story called Adelita: A Mexican Cinderella Story by Tomie dePaola. Kindergarten learned the differences between Fiction and Non-Fiction with a little help from Mr. Wiggles the Library Bookworm.
Next week Kindergarten will start an author study on Mo Willems!
Have a great weekend Tigers!
