Weekly Update 1-24-20

Dear Families,

Happy Friday!

This week we learned how to research. On Tuesday, we learned about different animals that hibernate. The students were asked: What do we already know about our hibernating animal?  What else do we want to know? We decided that we wanted to learn more about groundhogs! We reviewed all of the sight words that we have learned this nine weeks. In math  this week, we continued working hard on describing part-whole relationships for numbers up to 3. Social Studies, we learned about Martin Luther King Jr.

Today we had a surprise visitor. Miss Virginia came to our classroom. The students enjoyed having their picture made with her.

Next week we will be learning the following:

Reading:

Sight words: will, they, out

Digraph: /ch/

Comprehension Focus:

How can I connect this story with myself?  How can I connect this story with another book? How can I connect this story with the world?

Math:

We are going to compare and describe the lengths and heights of two objects as being longer/shorter and taller/shorter.

Science:

We are going to learn about shadows.

Please read to your child or have your child read to you every night!

Thank you for all of your help at home.  If you have any questions, please email me!
