**** Please send in your child’s GOLD communication folder everyday. Put all notes and lunch money in this folder only. All money must be put in an envelope or zip lock bag labeled with child’s name, teacher’s name and the purpose of the money.  Also please send in a drink for your child if he/ she brought their lunch. *****

***If your child is permitted to have a dessert ( ice cream, cookies, fruit snacks) or chips please send me in a note. These all cost additional money.  I do not let my students  take anything extra unless I have  your approval. ***

Water bottles are permitted in the classroom. Please make sure the lids are on securely so they do not leak in your child’s backpack.  Also please make sure you label  their   lunch  ( if you send it in).  Your  children are permitted to take their water bottles outside when it is very hot. Please put your child’s name on their water bottle.

Language Arts  – “CH” digraph ( at beginning and the end of words)

Please have your child practice writing their first and their last  names  with capital and lower case letters. This is the  ” Kindergarten Way.”  They should not write their names in all capital letters.

 “Star Student of the Week”  Please help your child to fill out and color the poster .  You can also send in photographs to hang on the poster.   A letter will accompany the poster  explaining what is required. Please send this completed poster in the following Monday so your child can share it with the class. I will display it in our classroom and return it home on Friday.

 We have now finished Star Student for the year !

We now have an ” Estimation Jar” that will come home weekly with a different classmate. The instructions will be in the jar.  It is always fun learning about estimation !!

 March Birthdays- Happy Birthday to  Cooper and Samaa  this month!!

CALLING ALL  MYSTERY READER ( Fridays from 11:20-11:40 )   
I would like to invite any parents, older siblings, grandparents, relatives, or other special people to surprise your child by being a “Mystery Reader” this year in our classroom. Students LOVE having their  family, friends, and relatives visit our classroom to share in our learning by reading a favorite story aloud to our class.
Readers are asked to bring a book to read or read a teacher-chosen book from our classroom library.
If you can find a date that works for you, please sign up to be a Mystery Reader on this sign up genius  for the 2019-2020 school year once it is set up by our Room Moms!
There will be  many open dates to choose from throughout the year.
Remember this is a mystery so please don’t tell your child you are coming!! The children love to be  surprised!

Important Upcoming Dates:

3/11- Spring Class and Individual  Picture Day- You must pay for the group picture  on picture day. The individual  photos will come home to you and you can choose if you want to buy them or not after you look at them.  Please see the 2  forms I sent home in your child’s folder on Friday. 

3/13- Career Day

3/30- Student Half Day- Please send in a lunch and snack  for your child. If you want your child to buy lunch you were to send in the form with his choice of food.

Friday, March 6th– Dr. Seuss Dress Up!

  • Dress up as your favorite Dr. Seuss character. Kindergarten will parade throughout the halls. It will start at 8:20 AM. If parents want to come and watch this brief parade you can come and stand in the hallway by the office!

Heritage Night         Thursday, February 27th

6pm – 8pm

Join us for a trip Around the World at CTES’s Heritage Night. This year, we will feature a Parade of Nations and Desserts from Around the World after a brief performance from the 1st graders.

We are proud to have over 35 countries represented at CTES. Select students will be participating in the Parade of Nations by carrying their country’s flag of origin. Each country will be announced during the parade and after the parade the students will lead the audience into the halls for everyone to enjoy Desserts from Around the World. To display the desserts in an easy manner, we have divided our countries up into 6 regions. (North America, South America, Europe, Africa, North Asia & Middle East, India & South East Asia)

Here is what we need from you:

In order to make this event a success, we are asking families to make a dessert from their country of origin or any country they prefer.

Please consider helping us make this the best Heritage Night yet at CTES.

Third grade needs your help! We have been learning about the devastating fires in Australia and want to do our part. Students have come up with the idea of having a CHANGE DRIVE to collect money to donate to the World Wildlife Fund. Please help us by emptying your change jar and sending in coins (no bills) with your child from the 21st through the 29th of January. Thank you for your support!
