HAPPY FEBRUARY BIRTHDAY ! Samrat
Reminder: Please send in a healthy snack daily for your child. Water bottles are permitted in the classroom. Please make sure the lids are on securely so they do not leak in your child’s backpack. Also please make sure you label their snack and lunch ( if you send it in) so your child know the difference .
Language Arts – Students should know all their capital letters, lower case letters and sounds by now. It is important to continue reviewing sight words daily to enable your child to read on grade level. Comprehension is also an important part of being able to read on grade level. Ask your child questions about what he/she reads . Please have your child practice writing their first and their last names correctly and short sentences by sounding out words. By the end of this 3rd marking period, your child should know how to read at least 28-32 sight words to be on grade level.
A Valentine Reading Log came home! As you read a book with your child have them color in a heart!
Focus this week on “Uu” and Valentine’s Day
Have your children go into RAZ Kids ( which has been paid for by the PTA) and practice reading stories and answering comprehension questions once they get to a certain level. I sent home letters with your child’s password the first marking period. If you misplaced this information just let me know.

CALLING ALL MYSTERY READERS! PLEASE sign up to come in and read a story to the class. All your children are hoping you will come in!!!!!
Joanna set up the Sign up Genius for this, please sign up!!
I would like to invite any parents, older siblings, grandparents, relatives, or other special people to surprise your child by being a “Mystery Reader” this year in our classroom. Students LOVE having their family, friends, and relatives visit our classroom to share in our learning by reading a favorite story aloud to our class.
Readers are asked to bring a book to read or read a teacher-chosen book from our classroom library.
If you can find a date that works for you, please sign up to be a Mystery Reader on this sign up genius for the 2018-2019 school year!
There will be many open dates to choose from throughout the year.
Remember this is a mystery so please don’t tell your child you are coming!! The children love to be surprised!
We had Colin’s grandmother as our Mystery Reader this past week !!!!
