Highlights for week of 12/9/19-12/13/19

**** Please send in your child’s GOLD communication folder everyday. Put all notes and lunch money in this folder only. All money must be put in an envelope or zip lock bag labeled with child’s name, teacher’s name and the purpose of the money.  Also please send in a drink for your child if he/ she brought their lunch. *****

***If your child is permitted to have a dessert ( ice cream, cookies, fruit snacks) or chips please send me in a note. These all cost additional money.  I do not let my students  take anything extra unless I have  your approval. ***

Reminder: Please send in a healthy snack daily for your child labeled with name and word: SNACK.

Water bottles are permitted in the classroom. Please make sure the lids are on securely so they do not leak in your child’s backpack.  Also please make sure you label  their   lunch  ( if you send it in).  Your  children are permitted to take their water bottles outside when it is very hot. Please put your child’s name on their water bottle.

Language Arts

We will also focus on identifying, writing and the sound of short vowel – Ee.

Please have your child practice writing their first and their last  names  with capital and lower case letters. This is the  ” Kindergarten Way.”  They should not write their names in all capital letters. 

Classroom  Word Wall Words  will be posted weekly.

Sight  words will come home in January.   Please have your child review these everyday.  Thank you to the parents who are reviewing these sight words with their children ! They are so proud of themselves!! 🙂

 “Star Student of the Week”  Please help your child to fill out and color the poster .  You can also send in photographs to hang on the poster.   A letter will accompany the poster  explaining what is required. Please send this completed poster in the following Monday so your child can share it with the class. I will display it in our classroom and return it home on Friday.

Sanjana was our last  “Star Student.”  It was so much fun hearing about her interests and her family!

 Pranavi  will be our Star Student this week !

CALLING ALL  MYSTERY READER ( Fridays from 11:20-11:40 )   
I would like to invite any parents, older siblings, grandparents, relatives, or other special people to surprise your child by being a “Mystery Reader” this year in our classroom. Students LOVE having their  family, friends, and relatives visit our classroom to share in our learning by reading a favorite story aloud to our class.
Readers are asked to bring a book to read or read a teacher-chosen book from our classroom library.
If you can find a date that works for you, please sign up to be a Mystery Reader on this sign up genius  for the 2019-2020 school year once it is set up by our Room Moms!
There will be  many open dates to choose from throughout the year.
Remember this is a mystery so please don’t tell your child you are coming!! The children love to be  surprised!

2) If your child wishes to participate in the Reflections program, the deadline to submit entries to school is October 28.  The Reflections program is an opportunity for interested students to submit original works of art in photography, visual arts, dance, music, literature and more! 10/21- Permission slip are  coming home for our field trip, November 14th to the Science Museum. These permission slips are due back signed and with the fee, by Friday, November 1st. You can sign up to be a chaperone at this time. I can only pick 4. I will tell you after I receive all forms. At this time the people who are chosen can send in their fee also. All chaperones must ride the bus with our class and will be responsible for a small group of children including your own child.
