The March 23 deadline for registering for Summer Online Health 9 & 10 has been extended and will remain open until filled. This course is open to CFA MT, Theatre & Dance students. To register bring a completed application and $100 fee to the School Counseling Office.

CFA Spring Showcase Rehearsal Information is listed below for ALL CFA MUSICAL THEATRE students.  Parents and Students – please make note of these times.  Also – please remember that students are REQUIRED as per the CFA Handbook to attend these rehearsals.  All of these rehearsals and performances are part of the CFA curriculum and are GRADED events.  Students – it is EASY to get SUPER GREAT showcase grades if you show up for rehearsal on time, you are prepared, you have good attitudes and you are doing your best!

SPRING SHOWCASE AFTER SCHOOL PROCEDURES FOR SNACKS & REHEARSALS 

• Students will report to their CFA classroom directly after school for attendance.  Your CFA teachers will then escort you to the Main Commons for the snacks.  DO NOT GO TO THE MAIN COMMONS UNLESS YOU ARE WITH YOUR CFA CLASS and TEACHER!
• Students may NOT leave campus after school to get snacks.  We are responsible for you and we have to know where you are at ALL TIMES!  
• Parents may NOT bring additional food after school during snack time/rehearsal.
• Students – if you do not like/cannot eat the food that is provided, you may pack your own snack to eat after school.  Please pack something that non-perishable – such as peanut butter sandwich, granola or protein bars, fruit, etc.  REMEMBER – parents MAY NOT BRING any food to you at snack time/rehearsal.
• Remember to thank the FCFA for doing this for you!

From CFA family giving over the years, the Friends of CFA parent booster group has funded scholarships, equipment & learning opportunities. During March’s start to the Spring Showcase season, the FCFA is holding a Magic March campaign to raise the funds necessary to keep those initiatives going. Any amount is welcome and we’d love as many people from our students’ friends and family support network to participate.

To add motivation and excitement into the mix, we challenge each of the four disciplines’ supporters to demonstrate their enthusiasm for the CFA and the arts through their participation. The ‘Creative Four’ will compete on the percentage of students with supporters participating.  We’ll announce the winners the Monday after Spring Break, and will celebrate the winning discipline’s victory with an ice cream party during its CFA Seminar. So, please identify your student by name in a comment as you pledge so his or her discipline gets credit!!!

CFA lead musical theatre teacher Mr. William Dye wrote the book and directs Virginia Rep’s production of Songs from the Soul, which opened February 2 and runs through the 25th at the Willow Lawn Children’s Theatre.  Wonderful, high energy and informative show for all ages!

Audition Day February 3, 2018! We are thankful for a beautiful day, many wonderful students auditioning for our program, great CFA student volunteers, and our awesome director, teachers and guest adjudicators! Application status/acceptance will be posted online March 9, 2018.

We look forward to seeing applicants to the CFA program on Saturday, February 3,  2018 for their audition!  When applying online, each applicant selected from 1 of 4 audition time slots.   If you do not have your audition time,  please call the CFA office at 228-2718 before Friday at 4:30.    Please arrive for check in 15 mintues before the start of the audition.  Visual Arts check in will be in the art building at the front of the school.  Check in for Dance, Musical Theatre and Theatre will be in the Main Commons.  There will be plenty of student volunteers on hand to guide you to the right place.

Under the Future Students tab on the website, you will find the times, attire and audition requirements as well as some additional tips and words of encouragement from our CFA teachers.  Good luck to everyone!

Parents:  CFA’s booster organization, Friends of Center for the Arts, will hold parent information sessions on Saturday that you may attend while your student is auditioning.  In the past, parents have found these sessions to be very helpful and informative.

In the event of inclement weather this week, please note the following about this Saturday’s CFA Audition Workshop scheduled for Saturday, January 20 at Henrico High School:

• If HCPS schools are open on Friday, January 19 – the Audition Workshop will still take place as scheduled

• If HCPS schools are operating on a two-hour delay on Friday, January 19 – the Audition Workshop will still take place as scheduled

• If HCPS schools are CLOSED on Friday, January 19 – the Audition Workshop will be CANCELED.  If canceled, the Audition Workshop WILL NOT be rescheduled.  Instead, Workshop participants should refer to the CFA Website for Audition Tips
