It’s Spring!  That can only mean one thing…SHOWCASES!

CFA presents their Spring Showcases beginning with Dance THIS weekend.  Performances will be March 13^th and 14^th at 7PM. General Admission tickets are $5.00 and will be on sale from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the HHS Box Office on each show night.

In two weeks, Musical Theatre will present its 2020 Spring Showcase on March 27^th and 28^th at 7PM. General Admission tickets are $5.00 and will be on sale from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the HHS Box Office on each show night.

After Spring Break, Theatre’s Spring Showcase will be presented April 23^rd and 24^th at 7PM. General Admission tickets are $5.00 and will be on sale from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the HHS Box Office on each show night.

Last but not least, Visual Arts will hold their Spring Showcase Gallery on Friday, May 1 at 4:30-6:30PM in the CFA Jeff Hall Gallery.

It’s been a long wait, but it’s finally here!  Decisions have been set out and should be in your email box as of Friday, March 6th after 4:30 p.m.  We saw so many talented students at auditions on February 1st, and we are excited to offer spots to many qualified candidates for the 2020/2021 school year.  Good luck!

All CFA auditions take place at Henrico High School on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the 4 locations noted below.   Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in for your audition at the check in table, located at each of the 4 audition areas.  There also will be a general information table in the Main Commons.  Only students who submitted an application for the 2020-2021 school year may audition.

Dance ( Dance Studio)

Session A:  Last names A–M & 2 years or less dance experience       9:00 a.m.–10:30 a.m.

Session B:   Last names N–Z & 2 years or less dance experience     10:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

Session C:   Last names A–M & 3 years or more dance experience     1:30 p.m.–3:00 p.m.

Session D:   All students N–Z & 3 or more years dance experience     3:15 p.m.–4:45 p.m.

Musical Theatre  (Black Box Theatre), Theatre (Building 13) and Visual Arts (Art Building)

Session A:   Last names A–F      9:00 a.m.–10:30 a.m.

Session B:   Last names G–L     10:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

Session C:   Last names M–R     1:30 p.m.–3:00 p.m.

Session D:   Last names S–Z      3:15 p.m.–4:45 p.m.

Application deadline THIS FRIDAY!!!!

HCPS students and parents – if you, a sibling, a friend, a neighbor, ect are interested in the Center For the Arts program offered by HCPS all applications are due on FRIDAY 1/17/2020.

We are so lucky that Henrico County Public Schools offers these opportunities to our students – So be sure to spread the word and get your application in!

All rising 9th graders will complete the application via HCPS website link below. Any current high school student, private school student or homeshool student will complete the PAPER application that can be found on this blog under the “future Students” tab > “Application instructions for 2020-2021 school year”.

Specialty Centers

Applicants to the Center for the Arts for the 2020-2021 school year are invited to attend an optional audition workshop on Saturday, January 11, 2020 to help them prepare for the required February 1st audition.  There are 2 sessions: 9 – 10:20am  and 10:30am – noon.  Please call the CFA office at 228-2718 to reserve a spot. 

You know it’s a great day at Center For The Arts when Hamilton visit!!! We were excited to welcome three amazing cast members from the Richmond Hamilton production to OUR school Wednesday, November 20th. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for the students to hear from and talk with “real life” Broadway cast members. The students had an opportunity to ask questions, get advice and get up on stage and dance with Jessica Geller and Paige Krumbach.
