Welcome to Ms. Courtney’s Preschool Blog!

Courtney Gibbons Plowcha is an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) and Peer Models Preschool teacher at Greenwood Elementary School. She has been teaching Exceptional Education in Henrico County for 21 years.  The 2023-2024 school year completed her 15th at Greenwood. Ms. Courtney received her Undergraduate Degree in Speech Communication and Psychology from West Virginia Wesleyan College then made the switch to teaching 4 years later. She received her Master’s Degree in Education from VCU with endorsements in Early Childhood Special Education, Intellectual Disabilities, and Multiple Disabilities. Ms. Courtney takes a holistic approach to education and is passionate about the positive impact early intervention has on the lives of children with unique learning needs. Ms. Courtney has been married for 16 years to her husband, Mike, who also works with HCPS. They have a 4th grader who attends Henrico County Public Schools as well. When she isn’t teaching, Ms. Courtney enjoys being outside, reading, listening (and singing along!) to music, learning new things, drinking coffee, and spending time with her family.
