Now that it is winter, we are talking a lot about winter activities and things you see in the winter. This week we talked about winter animals. We found out that some animals hibernate all winter long and some hibernate for part of the winter. We even talked about animals that migrate or animals that have to search for food in the cold snow. One of our favorite animals we talked about were bears! We read many fun books about bears and we created a cool project. Take a look at our “cave” with our sleeping bears. Can you guess what they are dreaming of?
We had a great first full week back! We are getting prepared for some cold weather and we are ready for that pretty white stuff! We also got our classroom ready for the new year by cleaning up and getting out some new supplies. We had a blast cleaning our desks with shaving cream and pretending it was snow! It was fun to write numbers and our letters in the shaving cream. We are excited for a great 2019 and lots of snow!
We had fun on our 2 days back! We were still able to talk about Resolutions and Welcome the New Year!
In 2019, we are going to knock your socks off! Look at our cute display we made. The students all thought of different things they wanted to do this year. It could be a resolution or something they wanted to do to WOW people! I hope you can stop by and look at our fun wall!
The students had a great Winter Activity today! Thank you to all the parents that donated items and helped us with the craft!
The Ring and Sing sure was fun today. What a great way to celebrate the beginning of winter break. See everyone in 2019!
We had a fun day “riding” on the Polar Express. We walked through the halls of Echo Lake and rang our bells. When we returned to the classroom, we had hot chocolate and a fun treat. We even got to watch the Polar Express on our mats during nap time! Oh and our Pete the cat….he was ready for the Polar Express activities too!!
Check out more pictures in the Polar Express Album.
We enjoyed our December Snow Days! Thanks to the families that sent me snow day pics!
This week we added Menorahs to our Celebrating with Lights wall. We have diyas for Diwali, Poinsettias for Christmas, and Menorahs for Hanukkah. We will soon be adding more decorations! Stop by and see our beautiful hallway!
We had so much fun at our 2nd field trip today. The students learned all about how to code a computer. This is a new technology standard for every grade level so we were excited to try out this new class. We also had time to ride the carousel and explore all the different activities that the museum had to offer. The students really enjoyed the dinosaur cave, water area with whirlpool, the news room, the cafe, the ambulance, and much more! Thank you to all the chaperones for helping out, we had so much fun! Look at the Children’s Museum album for tons of pictures!
The students enjoyed listening to a book “The Legend of the Poinsettia” by Tomie dePaola. This story shows how a beautiful poinsettia is important to the Mexican culture. People say that a poinsettia looks like a red star that lights up the countryside. Each student made their own poinsettia by folding paper into the shape of a pinwheel. Then we hung our poinsettias on our wall to light up our hallway. They are very beautiful!
