Week of February 19th

In reading, we will be focusing on the plot of the story-beginning, middle & end as well as problem/solution.

We are finishing up Fractions in math and will be beginning our unit on Time. Students will tell time to the hour and half-hour using a digital and analog clock. We will also be learning about am/pm and the concept of a minute vs. hour.

After completing our Famous American projects, our next Science unit is Matter! We will be learning about the 3 states of matter (solid, liquid and gas) and doing experiments. We will also explore how some substances dissolve in water.

Important dates this week:

Tues. Feb 20 – Famous American Parade (come to school dressed as your Famous American)

Wed. Feb. 21 – Social Studies Showcase AND First Grade Music Performance (meet in the classroom at 5:30 dressed as your Famous American)

Thurs. Feb 22 – 100th Day of School…wear a shirt with a number on it!

Fri. Feb 23 – Box Tops Due & Yearbook Order deadline
