We hope everyone had a wonderful winter break!
Please remember to have your student continue to read daily and complete assignments from the HW choice board throughout the week to reinforce what we are learning in class.
This week in reading we are continuing to develop our comprehension by answering questions including who the story is about (characters), what happened in the story (sequence of events and the problem/solution), when and where the story takes place (setting).
In math, we are estimating to tell ‘about’ how many objects we think are in a given set. We want to use our number sense to think about a reasonable guess. We will also check to see how close our estimate is. Thank you for helping to fill the baggie that was sent home with items such as Legos, rocks, pom poms, paper clips, etc so we can estimate the amount.
We are learning about the season of winter in science. We will discuss what the weather is like and how people, plants and animals react to winter. Students will have an opportunity to share whether or not they like winter and why.
Thank you for helping us make sure students are prepared for the extreme cold weather we are experiencing by sending them to school wearing a thick coat and also having a hat and gloves or mittens; please label everything with their name.
