We have been busy studying weather systems, extreme storms, and weather instruments.  Zach Daniel, from Channel 6 came by for a visit today and taught us many new things about weather.  Be sure to ask a fourth grader about heat lightning, and how hail forms.  Weather is truly a fascinating subject!

Be on the lookout next week when weather projects start appearing on our blog!

After completing our poster projects and our Comic Life documents, we uploaded all of our work to Voice Thread.  Next, we created Avatars at buildyourwildself.com that the students used to safely make comments on each others work.  It was such a great way to communicate between classes about our ecosystems, share what we have learned, and ask questions about things that we didn’t understand.  Check out our finished product:

After working together as a team to create their posters, then the students created their own Comic Life for the ecosystem that they researched.  They used this Frame Guide to ensure that they had all necessary elements included in their Comic Life.

The finished products were terrific.  The comic life documents showed that the students really had an understanding of their ecosystem and the negative impact that humans can have on the environment.

After conducting their research, the students worked as a team to create a poster of their ecosystem.

The students used their research papers, as well as this rubric, to create the poster for the ecosystem they selected.

The finish products were fabulous!!

My students did a fabulous job conducting research for their Ecosystem Project.  With the help of our librarian, Mrs. Grubbs, the students were able to find all of the information they needed to create our Ecosystem Posters and Comic Life pages.  The students used this rubric and worksheet to guide their research:
