Updates!

Hello!

I hope you all are doing well! In class, we have certainly been working hard reviewing for our SOL’s and working on our Soil Unit, which I know the students are VERY excited about! The students have also thoroughly enjoyed working on our novel studies that we began this week!

Last week, we had SO much fun during field day! I have tried numerous times to post some pictures on the blog, but the file sizes are too big! I will keep trying to figure this out so you all can see how much fun we had!

Today was Dress Up Like a Book Character Day to celebrate Children’s Book Week. The students were very surprised when they walked in the class this morning and saw Cindy Lou Who from the Grinch! I LOVED the costumes that the students wore! They looked AWESOME! I think they really enjoyed calling me Miss Cindy Lou Who all day today as well! :)

April 23,2012

Hi all! :) I just wanted to check in with you all to let you know of a few upcoming events!

PTA Spirit Night at Johnny Rockets is this Thursday from 4-9! The class who has the most receipts in their teacher’s name will receive a FREE Milkshake Party, courtesy of Johnny Rockets! For our class, please give your waiter MY name (Petree) to avoid confusion with two different teachers! :)

The PTA Spring Carnival is this Friday from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. I will be there to join in on all the fun!

Field Day is NEXT FRIDAY! :) Please return any information sent home last week with you if necessary!

Reminder: Spelling Tests are on Tuesdays and new word sorts are given the Wednesday after a test is given.

We are reviewing for our SOLS throughout the next few weeks in class and outside of class. Please review at home with your child to reinforce concepts learned.

Please know that you can ALWAYS contact me at agvguigou@henrico.k12.va.us if you have any questions or concerns! I am enjoying this class so much. They are such an awesome group of students who work hard and enjoy learning!

Miss Petree

Hi everyone!

Hello sweet class!  It makes me so happy to know that you’re all doing great!  Thank you so much for the sweet video of all of you singing “Happy Birthday” to Bette and for the cards you made.  They were precious and so creative!

I heard you had an exciting week last week with the Harmonica Concert and Mariner’s Museum trip.

I miss you all and look forward to seeing you soon!  Have a great week and a super Spring Break!  Here are a few more pictures of our girl!

Mrs. Guigou

Baby Bette!

Mrs. Guigou sent me some pictures of Bette to share with you all! She is such a beautiful little girl! We miss Mrs. Guigou and can’t wait to hear from her again! :)

We had so much fun yesterday at our field trip to the Mariner’s Museum! Below are some pictures I took while we were there! Enjoy! :)

Welcome Baby Bette!

Hello!

First of all, I want to welcome baby Bette into the world! She is a healthy and beautiful baby girl! All is well for the entire family! :) Mrs. Guigou will keep us updated on the family’s happenings as the year goes on! :)

We miss Mrs. Guigou SO much but have been working hard in the classroom this week. I think that the students and I have adjusted well together and I am very excited to finish out the school year with them! They are a very intelligent and fun bunch of students!

Monday is a Student Holiday, so please remember to send your child to school on Tuesday in their attire for the Harmonica concert (White shirt, blue jeans, bandana). They will be performing for the 1st and 2nd graders at 1:00 PM on Tuesday so they need to be dressed and ready for the show! For Tuesday night, please have students in the classroom at 6:45 PM.

I am so excited for the field trip on Wednesday to the Mariner’s Museum! I will be sending home a reminder on Tuesday that will include plans that you may be interested in knowing before the field trip on Wednesday! We still have room for one more chaperone, so if you are interested, please e-mail me over the weekend and I will reply back by Sunday to let you know!  I will intensely be keeping up with the VCU game on Saturday so I will be around my computer a lot! Thank you!

Thank you all so much for being so supportive of this new change in the classroom. I am thoroughly enjoying my time with your students, and I can’t wait to continue learning with them!

Miss Petree

Happy Tuesday!

I hope the snow provided some fun for the kids yesterday!  I enjoyed an extra day getting ready for Bette!  This Friday will be my last day at Springfield Park.  I leave with confidence knowing that Miss Petree will do a fantastic job completing the rest of the year with the students. Thank you all for your support this year.  I’ve enjoyed watching the students grow and learn.  They are and were a fantastic bunch to teach! :)   Please check up on the blog, as I will be using it to correspond with the students while I am on maternity leave.

Here is a little bio about Miss Petree…

Hi! My name is Jessica Petree. I am 23 years old and just graduated from VCU with my Master’s in Education in December!  I completed my Student Teaching in Mrs. Lanni-Mitchell’s class at Springfield Park and absolutely loved it! While working with Mrs. Lanni-Mitchell’s class, I was able to work with Mrs. Guigou’s class for Social Studies. I really enjoyed my time with Mrs. Guigou’s class and I am SO excited to spend more time with them!
I grew up in Glen Allen and attended Henrico Co. Public Schools (including Springfield Park for 3rd-5th grade!) I live downtown in the fan and I absolutely love the atmosphere of the city. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, and spending time with my family and friends. I also have an unhealthy obsession with Sweet Frog :)
I look forward to working with Mrs. Guigou’s class while Mrs. Guigou brings a beautiful little girl into the world! :) We will miss her so much but will keep in touch with her throughout the rest of the year.
