Lesson Summary

This lesson began with teacher modeling and discussing good writing structure and good mechanics of writing. Following this modeling, students were asked to think of an important season of the year and how that season is special to them and their families. Next, digital storytelling was introduced. Questions were asked from the students on how accompanying pictures would benefit writing. An online movie producing tool, Wevideo, was introduced and modeled to the students. Students proceeded to create their digital stories and shared them with parents and classmates.

Rating: Entry – Explanation: This lesson falls in the entry range. Students did talk for ideas and help each other with the movie program, however, students worked individually for original works.

Rating: Developing – Explanation: This lesson falls in the developing range. Students did respond the higher level questions and solve problems on their own as they arose, however most students responded to prompting from the teacher.

Creativity & Innovation

Rating: Ideal – Explanation: This lesson falls in the ideal range. Students took risks that what they were creating would be accepted by others. Teacher facilitated and students were allowed to take risks and synthesize their own ideas to create original work.
