TIPC Ratings

Research & Information Fluency

Rating:Developing – Explanation: Students used trade books, leveled readers, and PebbleGo to gather information about Helen Keller. They organized this information on a graphic organizer. Students also referred to a braille alphabet to design their braille nameplate.

Communication & Collaboration

Rating: Developing – Explanation: Though students each made their own designs, they communicated with their peers to problem solve as they were trying to make their name tag. Finished designs were made public and posted to a Google Doc to be printed.

Critical Thinking & Problem Solving

Rating: Ideal – Explanation: Students had to do a great deal of critical thinking while creating their braille name tags in Tinkercad. Students had to make precise measurements, use spatial recognition to determine where to place the braille dots, and ensure that the dots were raised high enough. After their name plates were printed, students reflected on their design and discussed what they would do differently in the future.

Creativity & Innovation

Rating: Developing – Explanation: Students used information gained from research and the Braille alphabet to construct their name tags in Tinkercad.
