China’s Contributions

This lesson is for : Grade 2:

Summary

Students researched the contributions of China (bronze, fireworks, compass, silk) in One Search. Students then created a presentation using either Google Slides, Movie Maker, or Comic Life to tell why these contributions are so important.

Research & Information Fluency

Rating: Developing – Explanation: Students used the index in the book to determine if the book was appropriate for their topic. Students also used Pebble Go and Google for some of their research.

Communication & Collaboration

Rating: Approaching – Explanation: Students had to work with students that had the same topic to do research. Group norms were established in order to work in teams.

Critical Thinking & Problem Solving

Rating: Developing – Explanation: Students were asked some higher level question that they had to respond to with critical thinking. Students were asked to think about how society would be different without the contribution they chose to research. How does that contribution help the world?

Creativity & Innovation

Rating: Developing – Explanation: Students were given several choices to complete their assignments. They could present their information in Pixie, Windows Movie Maker, or Comic Life.
